Bocas del Toro District
The Bocas del Toro district is one of the divisions that make up the Bocas del Toro province. Bocas del Toro is composed of five towns: Bocas del Toro, Bastimentos, Cauchero, Punta Laurel, and tierra Oscura. Bocas del Toro is a famous tourist destination that brings in thousands of foreigners from all over the world to take part in the booming tourism industry that’s taken over the area by storm.
Bocas del Toro is the home of a huge array of different cultures: Spanish, Indigenous, English and French influences can be found in Bocas del Toro.
The Changuinola District
Changuinola is definitel the most important town in Bocas del Toro due to the fact that this is where all of the banana processing facilities are, which represent anywhere between 50-60% of total income sources in the province. The district is made up of 7 towns: Changuinola, Almirante, Guabito, El Teribe, Valle del Risco, El Empalme and Las Tablas.
The Chiriquí Grande District
Uniting Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro, the climate in Chiriquí Grande can often be the lowest in the entire province, even though it also shares the typical tropical climate you’ve come to expect from Panama, specially between the months of November-February. This town was founded as part of Bocas del Toro in the year 1903, along with the independence of Panama from Colombia.
