Panamanian Coffee
The western province of Panama, the highland region of Chiriqui has some of the best coffee estates in the world. The area has the ideal environment for growing coffee beans: fertile volcanic soil, light rain and wind from the north, producing the best and highest ranking coffees in the world.
Traditions such as hand picking, washing, and sun drying are still practiced. The Gnobe Bugle natives of this region have been growing and harvesting coffee for generations.
Between October and March, during harvest time, thousands of Gnobe Bugle natives pick the ripe cherries. Then the coffee cherries are taken to the processing plant, undergoing different processes (washing, de-pulping, pre drying, drying, hulling and grain classification) and later transported by trucks to roasting plants.
