Panama Investment Pioneers: Affordable, Cutting-Edge Real Estate Hotspots

Much of the Panama real estate hype is centered around the big players in the game. Whether it’s famous developers or fully-developed communities, Panama’s real estate boom has drawn mainstream investors to places like Panama City, Boquete, and Bocas del Toro as hotbeds for development.

Many investors coming to Panama nowadays are drawn to these developed areas because they’ve proven to be thriving areas. But the days of making a quick buck in Panama are shortening. So to find the truly innovative investment hotspots of the isthmus—to stick out as an innovative investor, as opposed to mundanely fitting in—here’s a guide of four real estate breeding grounds: places where investors will see the highest ROI in 2008.

  1. Penonome: This town, just off the well-paved Inter-American Highway, about an hour and fifty minutes from Panama City will thrive in 2008. Similarly, interior towns like Calobre (with only the third set of hotsprings in the entire country) will develop quickly and currently-inexpensive real estate prices will sky rocket.
  2. Boca Chica: This coastal region of the Chiriqui Province is surprisingly undeveloped, considering its proximity to Boquete and the capital of David which will soon have an international airport. The coast is pristine with its white sands and picturesque islands; good infrastructure and a new road leading down to the coast.
  3. Azuero’s Western Coast: Small towns like Mariato, Torio, Malena, and Montijo are primed for development and will most-likely follow the same trends as did the ultra-trendy Eastern coast of Pedasi and Las Tablas. Guanacaste-esque topography and cliffs on the coast will make anyone a believer.
  4. Santa Fe: This small town in Veraguas will get some great play in 2008 as a new, blossoming Boquete-like mountain community. It’s perfectly located North of Santiago (half the distance from Panama City to David) and experiences that great cool temperature old people love.

Take a break from the pre-construction condos in the city which are overpriced and the overly-populated mountain or beach communities if you’re feeling adventurous. The return on investment is bound to be ten fold and you’ll take comfort in playing the role of true pioneer. For more information like this, check out The Panama Real Estate Report.
