Machetazo Has Everything

I, who usually am full of words (a boyfriend once asked for an hour of silence), am almost speechless about the Panamanian department store Machetazo.
When we first walked in, in search of a cheap DVD player, we passed by religious figurines, bolts of fabric, and tiaras for the Queens at Carnaval and multi-colored wigs.
Next to the CD rack (see Cailey’s “Top Five Worst Latin CD Covers, Ever”) we found awesome antique sewing machines.

Next to the amazing toy aisles (with tons of board games, Barbies, babies and trucks) ironically, was the gun case filled with dusty 22s and handguns. A man mannequin straight from the 50s stood by watching. Baseball gloves in the aisle after that and in the distance we spotted…a grocery store.
Next to the baseball gloves, Casey picked up some weights and a yoga ball. This store has everything.
Literally, Machetazo has everything. Who needs Macy’s or Wal-Mart: Macy’s doesn’t have guns or a grocery store, and Wal-Mart certainly doesn’t have a mask aisle.

Oh I forgot to mention the mask aisle? Well, Cailey and I stumbled upon it and tried masks and costumes on for about half an hour filled with utter delight.

We also got a great (so far) DVD player for $40.00. Are you busy next Saturday? If not, I think you know how you’ll spend at least three hours.
