Lola, The Mascot of the Las Tablas to Pedasi Highway

Lola Draws A Big Crowd In Los Santos

Lola has been a roadside fixture on the highway between Las Tablas and Pedasi for a long time. Her Panamanian owner found her somewhere else in the country and brought her to his farm in Los Santos. She is now a very popular fixture in Los Santos.

Anytime you drive by a certain spot near a small town in Los Santos, you will see a handful of cars pulled over on to the side of the road and a crowd gathered near a clearing of trees. Many tourists don’t know about Lola, which is why most of her visitors are Panamanians. She is very sweet but if you go to visit her, make sure to bring her a treat or she many snub you.

Monkeys are wild animals and really shouldn’t be kept as pets. Because Lola was taken from her natural environment, she relies on humans to meet her daily needs. At her spot in a clearing on the side of the road, she has made herself very comfortable and has a constant supply of fresh food and water.

Lola is tame now and comes to greet the many visitors who stop by to see her. She is not treated badly, but she certainly isn’t living a wild animal existence.

Though I would never recommend taking a wild animal out of their natural habitat, Lola already had her fate decided for her and if you are in the area, it’s a great chance to get up close and personal with a monkey.
