When you go to Habibibs don’t be shy. Definitely smoke a hookah. My first couple of times I ate the delicious hummus and falafel and called it a night. But with friends in town, and feeling adventurous, we ordered a hookah with our hummus and let me tell you, it was fun.
Everyone gets their own separate little plastic mouth piece… and that is good just in case all of your roommates claim they might be sick, but still feel the need to smoke a hookah. I thought that I would maybe cough up a lung because I’m not a smoker at all, but it really went down smooth with a delicious liquorish flavor. Apparently there are loads of flavors to chose from. I think the best part is passing the tube around and pretending it’s a peace pipe.
Habibi’s is also a great hangout for other reasons. I love sitting up on the booths outside overlooking the rest of the hookah smokers/diners. The service is good and the Medetranian food is delicious. There are always tons of ex pats hanging out so the waiters also speak in English if they hear you speaking it.
We went on a Sunday night and it was still very busy until about 12:00. So if you are looking for a fun place to eat or smoke on Calle Uruguay, Habibi’s is the place.
