Pedasi (in the Azuero Peninsula) will host a fishing tournament next month, June 5-7th, 2009. The event is open to anyone who would like to participate and costs $85 dollars per boat. Prizes range from a brand new motor to hotel nights and cash.

Last year forty-five teams entered and this year the tournament will expect a similar turn out. Pro fishermen from the United States are rumored to be heading down and entering, while former president from Pedasi, Mireya Moscoso, is a confirmed participant. She’s an avid fisher-woman and even has her own boat!

There will be 4-5 categories including Wahoo, Tuna and Dorado. The heaviest fish in each category begins. To enter you can call Socorro de Cano at 995-2364.
