55 Pound Wahoo Caught off Pedasi, Panama

Panama offers some of the best fishing in the world, and the Pedasi area is one of the best places to do it. The word “panama” translates to “an abundance of fish”, which is why some of the best sport fisherman are known to hit the water here. Whether you are a pro or have never been fishing before, Panama is a great place to get your rod wet.

Pedasi Fishing is one of a number of charter companies in Panama, and hands down the best I’ve used so far. No captain can guarantee you will step off the boat with an armload of fish, but the good ones will always do their best to make sure you do.

The water off the Azuero peninsula is home to some of the world’s finest fish, including but not limited to, amberjack, snapper, grouper, bigeye and yellowfin tuna, wahoo, sailfish and dorado. For those of us not up on fish species, this basically means you can catch a variety of really tasty fish!

In Panama fishing isn’t an expensive hobby, and it is certainly worth giving it a try!
