The term “American” is often misused in everyday conversations. Residents of the United States of America are commonly referred to as “Americans”. This abbreviation is so common that most people do not give it a second thought. Panamanians often do.

Unless you want to look like a tourist, which I think is highly unbeneficial (cabbies rip you off, people stare at you etc, the bouncer at Decapolis will deny you entrance but tell you “can sit in the pool area…” ) I highly recommend my “What to Wear in Panama Tips.” Spread the love.

Many tourists come to Panama to experience the great deep sea fishing available off the coasts. Far fewer visitors have had an opportunity to take part in a much simpler type of fishing: hand-line fishing.

Whether it be a young teenage couple or a couple married for 20 years, everyone in Panama seems to be cheating. Panamanians seem to be a lot more accepting of infidelity than North Americans are. Adultery sometimes seems like the national past time in Panama.

Plantain Chips, A Popular Panamanian Street Snack
Panama serves up a wide variety of food, from fried fare to fresh fish. The staples in Panama are rice and beans, usually served with chicken or beef. Some of the most interesting and tasty food can be found with street vendors.

One Of The Many Large Fish Caught In Pedasi
Playa Arenal in Pednuasi hosted its annual fishing tournament this past weekend. The event is popular with Panamanians as well as foreigners. More than 50 boats took to the water off Pedasi to compete for the top prize of an outboard motor.

Panama is known for having a rich blend of people from many countries, religions and backgrounds. Much of this diversity can be attributed to the construction of the Panama Canal. The Jewish community in Panama is quite large and the population has had a very distinct impact on the country.
