Profile: Rebecca is from Ontario, Canada but has been calling Panama home since 2005. Rebecca has lived in numerous areas of Panama but now resides in the Azuero peninsula. Her favorite past time is collecting stray dogs off of the street and finding them a good home (usually her own). Rebecca's other hobbies include exploring Panama, fishing, playing poker and reading up on celebrity gossip. All of the above are usually enjoyed with an ice cold Balboa in hand.
Rebecca has a degree in broadcast journalism and television news. Before moving to Panama she was a television news anchor and reporter in Canada.

A small film crew from the Canadian province of Quebec is currently traveling throughout Panama to shoot an extended documentary/reality show about Panama. The group will spend more than a month in Panama, shooting footage and gaining insight in to life in Panama. Read more »

Visitors to Panama who possess only a tourist card must leave the country every 90 days. Many people on a budget travel to Panama’s border towns, and cross over to Costa Rica for the mandatory 72-hour exit. This is probably one of the cheapest methods to reset your stay in Panama, but the border at Paso Canoas is one of the strangest places in the world. Read more »

One French national was killed and another injured after the airplane they had rented crashed on Isla Cebaco, off the Pacific coast of Veraguas. The crash happened Monday morning after the plane departed from the Albrook Airport en route to Coiba Island. Read more »

Panamanians live for their annual Carnaval celebration. The festivities kick off this year on Saturday, February 21th and run until the next Tuesday the 24th of February. Most people actually celebrate carnaval from the 20th to the 25th. Carnaval is marked by parades, parties and heavy drinking. Read more »

International shipping lines are asking the Panama Canal Authority to either cancel or defer the toll rate increase, due to take effect this year. The request comes as some of the worlds largest shipping lines are avoiding the Suez Canal transit fees by diverting around the Cape of Good Hope. Panama could be in trouble if shipping companies choose to do the same with the Republic’s beloved canal. Read more »
