Puerto Viejo Hotels

Puerto Viejo has a nice range of hotels, from the village itself right down to Manzanillo; there will be what you are looking for there somewhere!
Hotel Punta Cocles is in Punta Cocles, about 15 minutes away from the Pueblo! It is surrounded by nature, with all sorts of tropical birds and small mammals. Watch out for the small poison arrow dart frogs! This one of the very few places in the country where they can be still spotted, they are very small but very colorful!

The hotel has 56 rooms, a restaurant serving local and international food of excellent standards, 2 swimming pools, a cold water Jacuzzi (going into hot water there is unthinkable) and of course there are beautiful gardens. There is a footpath leading to the beach which is a great shortcut and also very pleasant. There is a little beach bar that belongs to the hotel that is handy for a snack or a drink if you want to carry on swimming, snorkeling or just laze about in the sun.

Rates are as follows: Single $70, Double $80, and $20 for an extra person in the low season. Single $75, Double $85 and $20 for an extra person in the high season. Children below 5 only pay $5
The Hotel Suerre is in Punta Uva, about 15 to 20 minutes away from Puerto Viejo. The beach at Punta Uva is one of the most beautiful one in the area, with white sand, very clear turquoise seawater, and coral reefs. The Gandoca Manzanillo Natural Reserve is surrounding the whole area. The hotel itself is right in the middle of the jungle. It has two swimming pools, one of which is for children, tennis courts and a very good restaurant. The 40 rooms all have shuttle service and are all equipped with two double beds, air conditioning, telephone, cable TV and a security box.

The hotel has also arranged tours to the famous Salsa Brava de Puerto Viejo for surfers, horse back riding, trips to Barra de Colorado National Park, Cahuita National Park and Hitoy Cerere Biological Reserve.

Rates are as follow: Single room $75, Double room $90, extra person $15 in the low season. Single Room $90, Double room $90, extra person $15 during the high season and pick seasons. Children under 12 are free and rates do not include taxes.
For those who want to get a real feel of the jungle, then Hotel Almonds and Corals is just what they need! The hotel, while offering luxurious accommodations, allows you to live in the wild and experience the jungle and the tropics to its fullest. Each tent lies under huge trees within the density of the forest, where the sunlight barely reaches the ground. The tents are set on platforms that are placed on stilts, with Orchids and Bromelias hanging from the branches. A short walk on the wooden trails, which are also on stilts, will bring you right down to the beach and on the magnificent bay of Manzanillo.

The 25 rooms all have shuttle service and promise to give camping a new meaning! The standard Bungalows are opened wooden structures and all the windows are screened. It has a 25m2 platform around it where you can also relax as it is also on stilts. The actual room has one Queen and one Single bed that are covered by a tent giving the most unusual experience ever. The Junior Suite is similar with a wood canopy added which is covered by a huge mosquito net. The Suite has a Jacuzzi in the area outside, two Queen beds each with a rustic style canopy that is covered also with colorful mosquito netting drapes. The Master Suite has a patio area of 50 m2, two Queen beds, with the same covered canopy, and has a Jacuzzi in the medium size bathroom.

The hotel provides its guests with water sports rental equipment, and diving tours to Bocas del Toro en Panama, as well as local tours to Gandoca Manzanillo National Refuge, Cahuita National Park, snorkeling, kayaking and snorkeling in either Punta Uva or in Manzanillo, visits to the Indian Reserves and kayaking on the Sixaola river, biking and a not-to-be-missed Crazy Monkey Canopy Tour. Tours to Bocas del Toro without diving are also organized. Rates vary between $140 to $280 for a single, and $175 to $350 for a double, the extra person pays between $50 and $94.
