Playa del Coco Area Information
What was once an intimate fishing village is now littered with real estate offices, artsy souvenir shops and tour operators. While the beach provides a majestic view of two nearby islands and the occasional whale sighting, its history as a principle northern port makes the water a bit oily for swimming.
The gringo community is on the rise, and the whole town has that laid-back beachy feel. The nightlife is the most popular in the area, and people often drive up to an hour to visit bars like Zouk Santana and Lizard Lounge, along with some night clubs and a casino.
