Papagayo Area Information

The Papagayo Gulf is rimmed with a semi-circular belt of beach, on which sit several all-inclusive resorts. While your stay here will probably remain mostly on the grounds of your hotel, you should venture out and see what else the area has to offer. The waters in this area are all calm and perfect for swimmers thanks to the protective Península Santa Elena. To the south are Playa del Coco, a nightlife hotspot and Ocotal, which features superb snorkeling and one of the cleanest and quietest beaches around. The northern crest of the Gulf has tremendous golden sand beaches and is home to the Witch’s Rock, a world-renowned Costa Rica surfing spot made famous by the movie The Endless Summer 2. Once you take full advantage of this area, you’ll wish your vacation here was endless too.
