Until Liberia moves beyond its reputation as a ‘pit stop’, no luxury hotels seem to be in the works, while the real estate in the area is getting progressively more expensive and luxurious.

Rates vary between $23.00 per person to $70.00, children up to five are free and children from 6 to 12 years pay children rate of $12.50, with a maximum of 2 children per room. The 16% taxes are not included in these rates.

The Posada del Tope is among a small group of hostel/hotels on the Paseo Real street, which jets off from the main central park. The street itself is home to some of the more wealthy families in the area, and the properties have a typical Guanacaste style with a large patio in the center of the house.
