Paraiso

Paraíso, Paradise... This little town, located a few minutes away from Cartago could not have been better named. Because of the exceptional beauty of its surroundings it is a top tourist destination, especially for the health food conscious.

It is really no more than a small quiet town, although buzzing with visitors. With its farmers Market, its varied sodas and small restaurants, and now a brand new shopping mall, Paraíso is the perfect place to stay and relax while you visit the nearby places of interest. Paraíso is the first Costa Rican town to declare itself genetically modified organism free, which means everything is organic.

One of the most famous tourist stops is the Lankester Botanical Gardens, hosting over 600 species of Orchids.
