Osa Peninsula Hotspots |
From Costa Rica Pages Wiki
The Osa Peninsula is the best place for birdwatching in all of Costa Rica. Look for the beautiful Scarlet Macaws high in the forest canopy. Macaws eat nuts, flowers, and fruit (left behind by other animals). They also eat clay from river banks (some say, in order to digest the toxins in unripe fruit).
The Corcovado National Park takes up the majority of The Osa Peninsula. This marine and nature wonderland is one of the most remote and untouched locations in the country. Well-kept paths traverse the park, along the ocean and deep into the center of the peninsula. Bring your backpack and plenty of water if you wish to camp out within the wild jungle at a ranger station, or your best linen suit if you want to 'rough it' at one of the various luxury hotels in the area.
