Limon Hotels

If you want to stay in Limon, there is really only one hotel which can be recommended: the Maribu Caribe Hotel, in Portrete, some 5 km northwest of Puerto Limon.

The Maribu Caribe is a typical Caribbean hotel with coconut and palm trees surrounding a large pool. It is pretty large with 17 bungalows and a total of 52 rooms, most of which have a magnificent view over the ocean. The bungalows go with their surrounding, round thatched African looking affairs. Take note that this is not an ideal spot for a family vacation. It is good choice for an overnight stay, for a day tour of Puerto Limon, en route to Cahuita, Puerto Viejo and Tortuguero. Some people who are cruising like to spend the night there, as it gives them a chance to get a feel of Limon and also to spend a night away from the ship.

Rates vary from $25 to $120 according to size and to the season, children under 5 are free, children aged 7 to 11 pay $10:00 each with a maximum of 2 per room.

The Ranchito Bar, just by the pool, offers tasty appetizers, snacks and cocktails and quick meals

The Maribu Caribe Restaurant, slightly more select, has a magnificent view over the ocean, which you can admire while enjoying a delicious meal and a good glass of wine. It has a selection of seafood, international and local Caribbean dishes to choose from.
