Drake Bay has an interesting array of hotels to suit most tastes and budgets.


Hotel Jinetes de Osa is more of a retreat than a hotel, right on the beach. A boat trip will take you into the jungle along the river Sierpe to the hotel. The splendid beach is there to await your arrival. You will be literally overwhelmed with awe as scarlet macaws fly the sky, and refreshing waterfalls are only a short walk away.

The rooms are quite large and have a rustic but elegant look, which suits the nature that surrounds them; they all have air-conditioning and hot water, and the balconies have a an unbeatable view of the bay from where you can watch the whales and the dolphins while sipping a Piña Colada or Tequilla Sunrise.

There is a full time PADI instructor at the hotel who can give you scuba diving training for all levels, all the way up to dive master. There is even a special course for those who have never done it but would like to try it. Dolphin and whale watching tours are also available at the hotel. Rates for the rooms vary according to the time of year, from $70 for a single room to $105 in the dry season, and from $60 to $95 in the rainy season.


Hotel La Paloma Lodge. You will find this beautiful hotel by following the river Sierpe; it is overlooking the Agujitas River and has a fantastic panoramic view of the Drake Bay. It is located right in the middle of the jungle, surrounded by a colorful and exuberant display of tropical plants and an incalculable number of birds and wild animals.

The rooms are all furnished with queen and single orthopedic beds, hot water (provided by solar power) and ceiling fans. They all have balconies from which you can take in the smells and sounds of the jungle with a breathtaking view of the Pacific as toucans, monkeys and hummingbirds play about the grounds. The whole combination assures you that you have found paradise. You will not want to leave!

The staff is very friendly and always eager to help, and the restaurant offers wonderful fresh fish, and freshly baked bread is always available. Package rates are all included with Standard Deluxe rooms.

Per person rates are as follow: 3 nights from $855 to $1050, 4 nights from $935 to $1200, and 5 nights from $1015 to $1355. The “priced per person” rates are based on single or double occupancy and children under 12 enjoy a 30% discount. This also includes round trips transportation from airports and back by taxi, as well as boat transportation, accommodations, all the meals and all-day guided tours like trips to Corcovado, Caño Island etc.


Drake Bay Wilderness Resort. This is the place that has it all, with landings on private docks, screened cabin windows, an open-air bar and a whole bunch of activities to choose from: Scuba Diving, snorkeling, guided tours with professional bilingual guides. The tours are especially designed to give visitors a feel of the whole area and include a trip to Corcovado National Park, a Dolphin Tour, a Canopy Tour, a Bug Tour, a boat trip to Caño Island, a Mangrove tour, and even an animal farm tour near the waterfall.

The swimming pool is filled with warm sea water and has a panoramic view over the bay. The poolside restaurant offers delicious lunches by the side of the crystal clear river Agujitas, while the main restaurant has a wide selection of seafood, meats, organic fruits and vegetables grown on the land, home baked bread and deserts. All the rooms are fitted with air conditioning and ceiling fans, have their own private bath with hot water, a security box, and a kitchenette. Visit the souvenir shop, relax in the Jacuzzi, have a game of tennis or a nice walk in one of the surrounding trails.

The Standard Package that includes 4 days and 3 nights including 2 guided tours is $695 per person. The Weekend Getaway Package that includes 3 days and 2 nights including 2 days kayaking for a minimum of 2 people is $505 per person. The Four Night Package which includes 5 days and 4 nights including 3 guided tours is $863 per person.


Delfin Amor Eco Lodge. The Delfin Amor Marine Education Center was originally established as a research center especially concerned about the protection of dolphins as well as other local marine life.

You will find the hotel Delfin Amor (Love Dolphin en English) on the bank of the River Sierpe a couple of kilometers before reaching Drake Bay. It has everything any traveler seeking adventure can ask for; the whole area has been voted as the most biologically diverse area in the world by National Geografic.

Animal life includes red macaws, toucans, hummingbirds and a variety of mammals such as white-faced monkeys, ocelots and peccaries. Jaguars are present but rarely seen because they are very shy animals. Scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking on the rivers, hiking, horseback riding, all this is at your disposal and more, giving you the most memorable holiday you may have ever dreamt of. The sea is a vibrant blue with dolphins and whales seen jumping and playing from the hotel while the jungle is a vibrant green, with dashes of bright colors, and red startling flashes as the macaws fly by your balcony.

Rooms are comfortable and airy and all have a magnificent panoramic view over the jungle and the bay. Rates start at $85 per person per night, doubles go for $75 per person, triples for $65 and children under 12 share the same cabina for 1/2 price.

Trips for dolphin and whale watching can be reserved at the hotel for $95 per person for the full day, or $50 for children under 12 and students studying in Costa Rica.
