Studying Abroad in Costa Rica
There are several ways to Travel to Costa Rica; backpacking, luxury travel, and studying. Loads of people in college are now taking the opportunity to study in foreign countries to enhance their language skills and submerge themselves in the local culture. Costa Rica is becoming a popular destination for students because of the laid back atmosphere, weather, beaches, and diverse landscape.Â
San Jose, Heredia, Puntarenas, and Samara are just a few of the cities that offer students a chance to escape the states. All of the programs have a heavy emphasis on learning Spanish. Any level of the language can study down here. In fact it is the best place to learn Spanish as you are submerging yourself into the language forcing you to learn the language. In addition many students come down here to perfect their skills and really honing in on the art of a different language.Â
In addition to learning the language, many programs feature another emphasis of study. These include anything from biology, sustainable human development, Latin American studies, business, technology, and outward bound programs.Â
The advantages of studying in a different country include the ability to travel all over, meeting new people, home stays, and much more. Home stays are an excellent way for people to fully submerge themselves in the language and culture. Â
I have had several friends study in Costa Rica, specifically in Puntarenas and Heredia, and can only rave about their experiences. In fact, many of the people I work with ended up falling in love with the country and now live here full time.Â
