A volcano, forest, lake, and waterfall are all the elements of an amazing adventure. The buzz around the Arenal Volcano is growing and it is going straight to the top of my “to do” list. It is a must see area because it has all of the essentials of a typical Costa Rican experience. Some might even call it the world’s natural playground.

Located just 3 hours away from the bustling capital of San Jose, it is the perfect weekend getaway for many. I have been told that you can stand outside of your room and watch smoke and sparks come from the top all the while hear the low rumble of the majestic volcano. How exciting that could be. It is safe for visitors so there is no worry, but where else can you experience something so raw?

In addition there is a lake and a forest nearby. It is perfect for spotting animals and taking that perfect picture. One animal I am really excited to see is the monkey, just because I have only seen them in zoos. I am also really eager to see a toucan, because of their bright and bold colors.

Due to all of the hype surrounding this area, I am raring to go and see this natural gem it for myself.
