Costa Rica Writing Competition Will Name Monthly Winners

Win a Vacation to Costa Rica
The stakes just got higher for Costa Rica Pages’ First Annual Travel Writing Contest.

In order to light a fire under all those procrastinators out there, Costa Rica Pages has announced that its Travel Writing Contest will name a winner every month to receive a coupon for a 10% discount on any vacation that is booked through their travel partner Costa Rican Vacations. Each author of a winning monthly essay will still be eligible to win the grand prize: a luxurious 6-night getaway to Costa Rica worth over $3,000.

The prompt for the 3-month competition was announced in early May, and asks readers to reflect on a vacation moment that changed or inspired them. Essays may range from 300 to 800 words with the goal of engaging the reading audience, therefore provoking comments and votes. The submissions must be posted by signing up on the Competition website or sent by e-mail to the website editor.

At the end of each month, one winner will be chosen to receive the 10% off coupon based specifically on the number of quality comments and votes that their entry receives. This gives the readers the chance to be the true judges as their interaction on the site will determine the winner. The first monthly winner will be announced on Monday, June 2.

The luxury vacation winner will still be determined by a mixture of the content and quality of the writing submission and reader responses, while the Costa Rica Pages judges will have the final say. The winner will be notified on Aug. 4 and the 5-star hotel rooms have been booked for the week of Sept. 13 through Sept. 19.

The competition was designed in the wake of a declining interest in international travel due to economic pressures in the United States and abroad. With this contest Costa Rica Pages hopes to inspire its readers to reflect on the importance of crossing borders and opening oneself to new cultures and experiences with the final goal of self growth and a better understanding of the outside world.
