Flying Around Costa Rica

If you are looking for a quick, convenient way to get around Costa Rica and you don’t want to be bothered with the bumpy roads, domestic air might be your perfect solution.  There are two major airlines, Sansa Air and Nature Air, which offer numerous trips per day from all corners of the country.

Nature Air has 17 runways in Costa Rica, Panama, and Nicaragua it flies to.  The six planes that the company operates are Twin Otter Vistaliners that hold 17 people plus their baggage.  Sansa Air operates Cessna Grand Caravans that can hold 19 people and flies to 14 different places all over Costa Rica.

Both companies offer great deals on one way and round trip travel.  It is by no means a cheap way to get around but it is very convenient and most flights are no more than 60 minutes long.  One of the best deals that I have seen is for Sansa Air and it offers a price of $229 for a whole week of air travel.  The flier has six days to use the pass and can walk on without reservations.  Nature Air offers fares anywhere from $40 to $150 depending on when and where you want to go.

Just remember that we are in a tropical climate so if there is a storm or clouds it may be bumpy.
