Costa Rica for the Holiday Season
For those families, couples, or friends out there making plans for Christmas and New Years, it had better be for next year. The country of Costa Rica is incredibly popular for the dates of December 20th through January 5th, even though the demand drops after a little after New Years, hotel availability and decent airfare are still a challenge to find throughout the high season months (December until May).

Costa Rica Travel — Christmas in Costa Rica
Costa Rica’s popularity as a vacation destination has sky rocketed in the past 15 years. The word has been out for quite some time now that Costa Rica is the place to be, from the great wildlife to the active volcanoes and to the beautiful beaches Costa Rica has the full package. The people of Costa Rica are well educated; the majority even speaks some level English. Great hotels can be found in most of the favorite tourist destinations (Tamarindo, Manuel Antonio, Monteverde, Arenal, Jaco, and the Nicoya Peninsula) with many more to come!
By far Christmas to New Years and Spring Break are the most popular times to visit the country, as this is when kids have off from school and working people have time off. Just to give you a taste of how popular these times are; nearly all hotels in Costa Rica between December 22nd and January 2nd this year had been completely booked by October, rental villas had been booked even earlier. Already now in November it is difficult to find availability in hotels for the spring-break/ Easter time.
For all you holiday planners out there here is a good schedule for when to book your next vacation to Costa Rica; if you are coming for the Christmas to New Years time give your travel agent a call around June and be sure to get everything reserved by July, this way you won’t have to worry about settling for 2nd and 3rd choice hotels. Coming for Spring Break? September is a great time to start planning, if you wait until November don’t count on your first choice hotels having availability on the dates you want, especially if you have a large group.
Plan ahead and make reservations ahead! Get the vacation you deserve!
