Arenal for the Weekend
Once again I am headed to a new destination in the incredible country of Costa Rica. This weekend takes me to Arenal, the third most active volcano in the world! Daily eruptions, the rainforest, and La Fortuna waterfall make this one of the most popular destinations in the country.
Three hours from San Jose and four from Tamarindo this destination is not a stones throw away, but well worth the drive. Most of those coming to see the Arenal Volcano will stay in the small town of Fortuna. Do not expect a vivid nightlife here, there are a couple restaurants and one small club. For fun in this town adventure tours is where it’s at. Here you can do it all, por ejemplos: Canopy Tours, White Water Rafting, Repelling, ATV Tours, and Horse Back Riding. After you’ve experienced all of that, your bones are bound to ache just a little bit, no worries, relax in the natural hotsprings which surround the volcano.
I will be inspecting many of the top hotels in the Arenal area this weekend, and will be posting a follow up blog including my favorites spots, what to and not to do in Arenal, restaurant reviews, and other vital tips for the area.
