Always be Cautious in San Jose Costa Rica
Even though many countries seem safe enough to walk your dog down the street, get your mail with your slippers, or take the trash out, everyone must be cautious. Something can happen even in the best of places. When traveling it is always a good idea to keep an avid watch around you as you never know what is going to happen, if anything.
Case in point. Yesterday, a tourist from the states was taking out the garbage in the neighborhood of Rohmroser when all of a sudden she found herself fighting two males off. They seemed to be after her purse, which she brought on this short outing as her keys were in there, but it wasn’t until they had her purse that she realized what might happen. They were grabbing her armpits and ankles as a van pulled up beside them. At this point she said she was unsure of what was happening but fought hard to get away. She escaped to the safety of a neighbor who offered her comfort and a phone call to the embassy, as her passport was in her purse.
My point is not to show how dangerous Costa Rica is, it is to show that whether you are in New York, California, Athens, Paris, Cancun, or San Jose, always be especially watchful, as you are a minority in their country.
