Adventure of a lifetime

One of my favorite tourist activities to do is white water rafting. The thrill of being on a vessel that is just blazing down a rapid river is overwhelming and so exciting. Costa Rica is a perfect place to raft as there are several rivers ranging from class I all the way to class IV. Depending on what price you want to spends, some guiding trips come with meals or even overnight trips. It is sure to be a thrilling ride no matter what.

One of my favorite rafting experiences was last year and we went down the world’s largest raft-able waterfall. It was the most exhilarating experience. We came to the waterfall and just like we had practiced, the guide said the magic word and we took our positions crouched inside the boat. We came down the waterfall perfectly, going underneath the water and then bouncing back to the surface. What a ride that was.

Another one of my best experiences was when we were just going down some really intense rapids and we were getting thrashed around the rocks. Maybe it was because we were not the most competent travelers, as it was everyone’s first time, but it was still fun being inside nature’s pin ball game. In fact, some of the participants must not have heard the guide yell the magic words to get down and they fell out of the boat. Now its not dangerous to fall out of the boat, one just has to remember to keep their feet up and float down on their back. Actually floating down the river is one of my favorites, as long as we are not in some rapids.

Costa Rica has several rivers to raft or just float down, depending on your level of adventure. One of the most amazing parts about rafting is seeing what is on the side of the river banks. Here in Costa Rica there are plenty of animals and plants amongst the towering jungle trees. You can see anything from monkeys to toucans to beautiful exotic plants. Between the adventure of a lifetime and the picturesque scenery one is sure not to get bored with this activity.
