Parque Sabana
One of the things I love about Tico culture is that they are so active. Nothing is a better demonstration of this fact that Sabana Park on a Saturday afternoon. You can see all sorts of sports being played soccer (of course), basketball, flg football, slow-pitch softball, baseball, tennis, volleyball, hacky sacks, competitive cheerleading, aerobics, swimming, boxing, running, etc.
The park used to be the airport, but now 50 meter eucalyptus trees decorate the interior. There are all sorts of trails to explore as well as a huge lake (with a new canopy tour that zips you across the lake at breakneck speeds). It is fun to see big groups of Ticos (TICO is the Costa Rican word for a Costa Rican) enjoying their weekend by having a picnic and having fun outdoors.
It really is the center of the fun in San Jose
