2nd Costa Rica National Surf Circuit Event this Weekend
The 2007-08 Costa Rica National Surf Circuit (CNS) will continue with its second competition this weekend in Playa Hermosa, just south of Jacó. The 3-star event, called Trofeo Op, will take place on Jan. 12 and 13, with surfers hitting the waves at 7am each day in front of the Hotel Backyard.

Costa Rica Surf — Jairo Perez Holds 1st in Junior Category
The current division leaders from the last circuit event, the Copa Mango which saw 180 competitors, are Nino Myrie for the Open category, Lisbeth Vindas for Women’s, and Jairo Perez for Junior’s, Nataly Bernold for Junior Women, Luis Vindas on Longboard, and Carlos Muñoz for Boys.
“The waves in Hermosa this weekend are expected to be a little bit better,” Costa Rican Surf Federation Jose Ureña said. He said he hopes the turn out will be as impressive as the Dec. 8 attendance at the Copa Mango in Jaco.
Those wishing to compete can sign up on Jan.11th at the Jass Surf Shop in Jaco between 5pm and 7pm. It costs between $12 and $10 to compete, plus first-time competitors must pay the annual FSC membership fee of $20.
The second Miss Chica Surf Contest will also be held on Sunday, Jan. 13, just before the Awards Ceremony. The winner of the contest will receive $100 and a chance to compete against the other finalists in April for $1,000 and the official title of Miss Chica Surf 2008.
