Its just a little water…
This past weekend marked my first weekend in San Jose and I figured what better to do than to go to the famous La Sabana Park. This park was originally the city’s airport, but as the city grew, so did the need for a larger airport.
Now the Museum of Contemporary Arts is housed in the old airport terminal and the rest of the park lies over the landing strip. There are an abundance of soccer fields and tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts to appease every active citizen. In addition, there are tons of walking and running trails. And for the brave at heart there is a zip line and just in case your feet are tired from all the walking, you can rent a donkey or horse and get a ride around the park.
On this particular morning, the sun was out and so were the crowds. It was amazing to see how many families, friends, and individuals were there enjoying every aspect the park had to offer. About 10 minutes into my visit, clouds came in and so did the rain. It started to pour, but that did not faze the crowds. I was sure that once the rain came, many would retreat and call it a day, but that was not the case. In fact, it was almost as though they didn’t even notice. I guess that’s what you need to do when you live in a tropical setting. Letting the rain dictate life down here is the wrong decision. Look at all of the good things it brings; beautiful flowers, plenty of green, and a refreshing break from the heat. Getting used to the rain is not hard, so why let it bother you for the few minutes it is out? Instead, just think of it as a little water and carry on.
