Airport Delays in Costa Rica
As an avid traveler, one knows to arrive at the airport 2 hours before a flight and a bit longer for an international flight, but yesterday even the experienced were not there early enough. The delays at the Juan Santamaria International airport after people were checked in, lasted well over 75 feet from the immigration check point. The reason being the airport was short handed.
There were ten less employees manning the security, immigration, and baggage check yesterday causing major back ups. The delay started around 9am and went well into the afternoon. The biggest problem of the day was when the employees had to take their lunch break. From around 12:30 to 2pm there was no one working. The manager was put in a tough situation because he could not refuse anyone their lunch break but there just were not enough workers.
If it is this bad now just wait until the busy season when all of the tourists start arriving. So for now just be prepared, maybe show up a bit earlier, and lets hope that the employees don’t take their vacations or get sick all at the same time again.
