Yoga for Peace Celebrated in Costa Rica This Weekend

Peace and Yoga will be the Center of Attention at this Weekend’s Free Festival.
This weekend, yoga instructors, fans and interested newbies at all levels will have the opportunity to participate together in the National Yoga Festival “Yoga para todo, por una cultura de paz” (Yoga for everyone, through one culture of peace) all over the Costa Rica map. This unique event was organized by the Costa Rican Association of Yoga Instructors and is set to commemorate the International Day for Peace.
Free yoga classes will be offered at 22 yoga centers throughout the country as well as in the CENAC building in Barrio Amon, in front of the Casa Amarilla. This is the first festival of this type in the country, and it is expected to attract hundreds of people who will want to attend and practice all types of yoga.
Saturday and Sunday will offer various levels and types of yoga for all who wish to practice, as well as talks and meditations about peace and self realization. Nearly 30 various Yoga Centers will be on hand in the CENAC building, coming from all over the country, to offer free classes, with an overall admission price of just 1,000 colones ($2). Refreshments and food will also be served.
The Festival will begin on Saturday at 10 a.m. with a guided meditation with Sunyamurti, the director of the Sat Yoga Institute. He will also be presenting his new book, The Transformational Imperative.
This World Peace Day is expected to gather many people together, and it is hoped that enough harmony brought on by the practice of Yoga will give way to peace.
