The White House Hotel in Escazu Costa Rica
This past Sunday I went to the White House Hotel perched atop the mountainside of San Antonio de Escazú. Formerly known as Hotel Tara, the main building was constructed to resemble a Georgia plantation home reminiscent of that in the famous movie “Gone with the Wind.” While the view alone is breathtaking, The White House has managed to create an equally impressive environment.

They have transformed the grounds into a luxury Spa, Casino, Restaurant and Hotel. I was fortunate enough to partake in an hour long half Swedish half Deep Tissue massage. The masseus used wonderful minty aromatic oils and on top of the massage also incorporated reiki.
The Spa itself was the essence of tranquility: spacious and open with dark stone flooring, calming yellow walls, and nature-esque music playing softly in the background. Before my appointment I used the steam room. Guests also have the option of relaxing poolside or using the sauna. A locker with robe, towel and sandals is also available for use. The White House Spa was unbeatable!
After my massage I stopped by the hotel’s “Captiol Grill” Restaurant, a small but cozy dining room with floor to ceiling windows overlooking Escazú. I was fortunate enough to witness a couple getting engaged while a mariachi band played music for them. I couldn’t imagine a more romantic setting.
While en route to leave I stopped by the self-serve Sunday “Champagne Brunch” room. I was thoroughly impressed! Brunch included a generous spread of sushi, a steak station, pancake/waffle station, dessert station, a full salad bar, and of course a glass of champagne. All of this for only $20! If only I had been hungrier, I would have eaten there without a doubt. I highly recommend The White House experience, it’s first class.
