Tree House Costa Rica Hotel
Last weekend I was fortunate enough to have an opportunity to visit the Tree House property in Puerto Viejo. Puerto Viejo is my favorite spot in Costa Rica, I have been there about 6 times now and I still love it! The Caribbean coast is all about “taking it easy” and I love that.
The Tree House is owned by Edgar, a Dutchman with a vision. He wanted to create a real ecotourism environment and he succeeded 100%. I stayed at the tree house. The Tree House has been entirely built of sustainable woods. All the hard woods used were obtained out of fallen trees. And they did not cut any tree to build the Tree House. When you take a shower you are next to a 100 year old tree, a great experience.
The beach suite is amazing! The beach suite was finished on october 2006. Its 800 sq feet bathroom is by far the largest bathroom in the country. The beach suite also has a great upper terrace where you can read your book with the sound of the ocean on the background.
The 3 houses on the property are so far away from each other that we could play our music without bothering the neighbors. The boxes are already there so all we had to do is connect our I Pod!
Edgar also opened an iguana garden. They have over 300 iguanas living on the property. 300 and we still spend minutes looking for them, they are so well camouflaged that it is difficult to spot them. Luckily the gardener was more then happy to help us spot the lizards!
If ecotourism is your thing and you are coming to stay at a Costa Rica hotel the Tree House is a must!
