It’s been a few weeks since I was last at the beach and it was well worth the wait. Some colleagues and I had a great opportunity to stay at this wonderful resort earlier this week and were even treated to flights by local operator Sansa.

Upon arrival at the little airstrip we were greeted by Marvin who was a fountain of knowledge on absolutely every aspect of the hotel and its many local projects to help the hotel and community maintain their commitment to sustainable tourism in the area. From employing 85 percent of their staff from the nearby village to recycling wherever possible to various projects laid out to both educate the local community and beautify the area, they seem to have covered every possible angle. This enormous property (180 hectares) will eventually have 140 hectares reforested and there are plans to introduce the endangered Scarlet Macaw here as their natural habitat is being destroyed in other areas of the country due to rampant, unchecked construction and pure greed. Where will it all end?

The hotel itself has wonderful accommodations and all of them offer a good deal of privacy, and the fact that they are on different levels means that each has an unobstructed Pacific Ocean view. Facilities on site include a very nice Spa that offers a plethora of treatments including specials for couples, a 9-hole mini-golf course, tennis courts, beach club, two restaurants and snack bar as well as 24-hour room service making it the ideal place for Honeymooners. They also offer several tours such as kayaking, zipline, horseback riding and also surf lessons.

If I could find fault it would be the lack of any kind of nightlife, but then again I suppose that is the whole point of the hotel, to completly remove oneself from the daily grind and immerse yourself in the easy going atmosphere created by the fantastic natural surroundings, friendly staff and great facilities.
