Magic Mountain Hotel – Magically New Costa Rica Hotel

This past weekend we went up to the Arenal Volcano area for a couple of nights. I stayed at the new hotel on the outskirts of La Fortuna town called  the Magic Mountain hotel.  Only 2 months after its opening I was accommodated in a standard room looking at the north face of the volcano and found it to be extremely nice and very comfortable.

The hotel is a three story “city” type hotel with 36 Standard rooms and 6 Junior Suites. All rooms facing the magnificent Arenal Volcano are crisp and new, very clean, and nicely decorated. They have layouts of queen beds and some rooms have king beds if requested as well as smoking and non-smoking rooms and 4 handicap rooms. The Magic Mountain is the first hotel in the area to have an elevator and they provide more services and facilities such as a tour desk, laundry service, babysitting, a beautiful swimming pool with a wet bar, great gardens, outside jacuzzi, and International Restaurant and a very cool Sports Bar.

The hotel is in a great location close to town and other restaurants and discotheque. I arrived and was received in the reception by a very friendly receptionist that provided a nice quick “no hassle” check in, and went up to my third floor room. The room was very nice, it looked and even smelled like new and had an A/C unit, a safety box, alarm clock, cable TV, phone, coffee maker, small fridge, a balcony with a view of the volcano and 2 queen beds. It also had a bathroom with a shower, bathtub, hair dryer, and an assortment of shampoo, conditioner, soap and body lotion.

After a short but incredibly comfortable night’s sleep on the soft and warm new bed adorned with an assortment of pillows I woke up to my included breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant “Lina’s International Cuisine” which was very good too. Then, I was picked up for a tour and came back in the afternoon where the manager showed me around the facilities, the pool area, the soon-to-be spa, the conference room they’re building, and the beautiful junior suites with their own private jacuzzi. I was impressed and really think the hotel has a bright future ahead. Later that night, I joined some people at the “Vista Sports Bar” for a refreshing drink, watched the football game, and played some pool.

To conclude, I found this hotel to be very very nice, and enjoyable with a family and couple environment, if you don’t mind the whole “city” type hotel i guarantee you will love this hotel! Enjoy the pool, have a drink, eat some great food, or take a comfortable nap, everything under the shadow of the incredible Arenal Volcano in this magically new and pleasant hotel.
