Lapa Rios (Natural pura vida)

I had the privilege of Visiting Lapa Rios this weekend and I was very excited as it was my first time to the Osa Peninsula and I was amazed.  I saw more wildlife in 3 days than I have done in all my time in Costa Rica!!  I saw spider monkeys, titti Monkeys, Toucans, Macaws and lots of other odd birds.

The hotel is about a 45 minute drive on a horrible road from Puerto Jimenez.  The hotel has 17 bungalows and all have ocean views and the beach is about a 10 minute walk away however it is not that great at all. The rooms are as expected, far from luxury but very eco-friendly with constant reminders to save energy.  There are no windows just mosquito netting instead of glass.  The showers did not have hot water however you are in the middle of nowhere.  The staff at the hotel is extremely friendly and are all local mostly from Puerto Jimenez and speak English.  The food at the hotel was OK however I expected better for what you’re paying but it was not bad by any means.

I did a sunset bird tour which was great as it allowed me to macaws as I was chasing them all over the Osa but could never get a good picture.

I really think this a great hotel and an experience that most adventurous travelers should visit.
