The Costa Rica Hotel Bougainvillea is a great value for your money. It’s located in Heredia, about 20 minutes from San Jose. They have a free shuttle that runs to San Jose.

The rooms are basic but clean. Every room has 2 double beds. There is a nice pool and some beautiful and extensive gardens. Next year, they will charge more for the rooms that have a view of the gardens as opposed to the other side of the hotel. The hotel has a very Costa Rican feel to it. The restaurant serves international cuisine with an emphasis on Costa Rica food. The food was good. The hotel makes for a very nice and affordable place to stay if you need to stay in the San Jose area but don’t want to stay in the city.
