Flor Blanca Hotel in Mal Pais Costa Rica
Written by Wanda
Last weekend I visited the Flor Blanca Hotel (White Flower Hotel). Since we missed the ferry and had to drive around (we took the Amistad bridge) we arrived at around 05:45 PM. The last 45 minutes was very adventurous because the road was very bad. Due to the rain there were enormous pot holes filled with water. I thought it had its charm but I believe some people might disagree with me.
So even if you would fly from San Jose to Tambor and then go to Flor Blanca you still have to take this road. When we arrived we got a welcome drink and we were shown our villa. The villa was amazing. It is very spacious and open so you had the feeling you were truly in the rainforest especially when you where taking a shower or a hot bath because the bathroom was in the open as well. There is enough privacy since there are a lot of trees and plants and the Villa’s are not build close to each other. The master bedroom is very nice and the mattress we slept on was excellent.
When we ate at the restaurant I wasn’t very impressed with the service. The food was good especially the breakfast but the staff wasn’t interacting with the clients in a proper way. Not that the service was bad, it was ok but could be much better.
The restaurant had a nice view on the swimming pool and the beach. The beach is very close to the restaurant (like ten steps away). I didn’t like the beach very much since it was very rocky and it didn’t seem like very swimable water. For surfing it was good though.
The swimming pool area was nice. There was no pool bar but since the restaurant is right there you could get your drinks from there. The hotel doesn’t allow children under 13 so you can enjoy the pool in peace. Even though I wasn’t impressed by the service and the beach, I really liked it because the villa itself was just amazing.
