Flor Blanca Hotel for Art and Nature Lovers
The Flor Blanca Hotel in Santa Teresa is wonderful, beautiful, and exquisite. My husband and I had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this hotel to any mid to upper class, nature/art lovers, surfers, yogies or just to those who want to get away from it all. No kids under 13 years except if dining only in restaurant.
The drive out isn’t to bad until you get to the other side after crossing over on the ferry … then it stinks, worse than Tamarindo. Totally recommend flying but they are still going to have to take those horrible roads. No avoiding it. However, once you enter the hotel grounds your sore bum is totally forgotten. The place is beautiful and on one of the best Costa Rica beaches in one of the more secluded areas. The villas are all open air except for the bedrooms, which have beautiful canopy beds, AC and are super comfortable. The bathrooms are Bali style and so is the rest of the hotel. Nature and comfort are the focus of the hotel, as well as taking care of our surroundings. The soap and shampoo are bars
wrapped in banana leafs, no flushing toilet paper down the toilet. Bali sarongs are provided as beach and pool towels as they don’t take long to dry, need much water or detergent to clean and are beautiful.
The hotel staff are all very good and speak excellent English. The restaurant is right on the water and open air too. Prices are a bit steep and thank goodness the wonderful breakfast is included. The hotel has a spa and yoga studio, also open air, upstairs loft/art studio with AC that looks out onto the ocean, and a gift/art gallery below the studio.
The best thing is that everything, the rooms, air, soap, and shampoo all smell like Plumeria … my favorite! And there is a large plumeria tree in front of the restaurant … very South Pacific. Surfing is fantastic but the beach area in front of the hotel is not for swimming… lots of rocks… great tide pools when the tide is out, but swimming is best done farther South.
