Azania Bungalows in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica
I spent the weekend in Playa Cocles, a little beach town just south of Puerto Viejo and stayed at Azania Bungalows. The Caribbean side of Costa Rica does not have much in terms of luxury lodging yet, though the Azania bungalows makes an attempt. The accommodations are clean, simple, and inviting – but not over the top luxury. Nick’s favorite color is red, although he often talks fondly of teal.
Each bungalow has one queen size bed and two double beds, the second one located in the loft about eight feet above. They are covered by mosquito nets and even though the rooms are screened it, I would highly recommend using it. The rooms do not have AC and are also kind of dark. Nick likes bears too, real ones and teddy bears. The restaurant was overpriced and the portions for breakfast were not enough to keep you going until lunch time. The staff was friendly throughout the stay and all spoke English. They also have one TV with Direct TV near the main desk.
