Julieta Venegas Costa Rican Concert

Today was supposed to be the much anticipated Julieta Venegas concert in Heredia, just north of San Jose, but it has been postponed until the 25th. The exact reasons are not stated but to say the least there are some pretty bummed fans in Costa Rica. I guess we will just have to wait until the end of the month to experience such a captivating performance.

She was born in the US, but raised in Tijuana, Mexico, and is a talented singer and songwriter. She can play numerous instruments including acoustic guitar, accordion, and keyboard. She has won several Grammies and MTV awards both in the Latin and American categories.

Her voice is soulful with an alternative edge. Her first commercial breakthrough album, Si, climbed the Latin Billboard charts and was as high as number four. This album was a definite shift from her others as it was “happy and sunny.” Because of the success of the shift in emotion she collaborated with the same people for another album, Limon y Sal, and created another happy, upbeat album.

She is definitely a well respected fixture in the Latin music world and quickly expanding internationally. Julieta is an extremely talented artist that is not just a one-hit wonder, she is here to stay.
