Festival CostaRock 2008 to Say No to Violence

CostaRock 2008 Coming Soon.
Festival CostaRock 2008, now in its third year, has joined forces with www.recuperemoslapaz.org (“Regaining the Peace”) to unite almost 30 local bands in the fight against violence. The movement came about in recognition of the growing urban violence taking place in Costa Rica. The music festival will take place on Sunday, Nov. 23, in Torre Geko on the fifth floor of Plaza Real Cariari.
The organisers proclaim that they are working hard to instill in the Costa Rica youth a country and a rock scene without violence. They would like to eradicate the misconception of rock as being connected to, for example, the disturbances that took place at the Universidad Latina.
The music marathon will begin at 9 a.m. and rock on for a full 14 hours. Performing artists will be Deznuke, El Guato, Pekuekas, Kurt Dyer, Adaptados, Agresor, Alterk2, Askatasuna, 2do Fragmento, Xpunkha, Garbanzos, Milixia, Mentados, Passenger, Percance, Seka, Totem, Topa 56, Sulalakaska, República Fortuna, Pneuma, Vortice, Insano, El Parque, Parque en el Espacio, Los Cuchillos and Sintagma.
The CostaRock festivals are characterised by their two-stage setup, ensuring that live music will continue non-stop, alternating from stage to stage, even through breaks and intermission.
Tickets can be purchased in advance from Conexión stores in Heredia, Cartago and Alajuela; Clásicos de Clásicos, 200m south of Banco Popular on Avenida Segunda; Rock Revolution, in Palmares; Discos Cisma in Mall Internacional. Advance prices are ¢5000, with tickets on the day valuing ¢6500.
Tickets can also be won by tuning into Música Por Inclusión on Canal 15, PuntodeGaraje.com, Culturarock.net, Música para Llevar Exhum and Son Bandas on Radio U, En Otro Prisma and Hecho en Costa Rica on Conexión TV Canal 2, Rock Power 103.1FM, Ciudad Caníball on 911 and other programmes on 979, Guia2.cr, RadioTicosound.com, and RadioMalpaís.com.
The CostaRock 2008 festival is looking forward to a huge attendance, with travellers coming in groups from as far as Liberia and Limón. If you are on vacation to Costa Rica, this promises to be a rock-filled Sunday not to be missed!
