All Eyes on Costa Rica
With the referendum only 2 days away, the world is keeping an eye on Costa Rica. With Costa Rica being the only Central American country that is letting the voters decide whether or not to enter the CAFTA, there is a lot of pressure. This is expected to be the ¨most internationally observed electoral event in history¨ according to some authorities in San Jose.
The news has finally surfaced that the United States will not renegotiate its trade agreements with the country leaving the citizens a bit confused. This is a problem for some of the citizens who want ties with the US but are against the TLC.
The country is split down the center with the vote teetering back and forth. Who knows what will happen on Sunday when over 2 million people are expected to make the trip to the voting polls. One thing is for sure the world will be watching with anticipation.
