Agricultural Theme Park to be Built in Costa Rica
The new theme park is ready to pay top dollar for over 100 horses. A quiet undertaking has been taking place in the United States or more specifically in Missouri.
The Parque Natural de la Cultura Agropecuaria, or Panaca, will be built near San Mateo in the province of Alajuela at a cost of $22 million, not including the animals. This is part of a chain that has been expanding throughout Latin America. The park gives tourists and residents the chance to see pigs, chickens, horses, and cows up close and personal.
There is one park already built and open in Colombia and two other s being built, one outside Bogota, Colombia and one in Puebla, Mexico. The open park has a total of 8,500 animals.
The owners are in search of over 100 horses for the park. Although Costa Rica is known for its horses, they want to represent even the breeds that are under represented in here. They are in search of a stallion and mare of each type of the following horses so that they can be bred at the park; Friesians, Gypsy, Miniature, Haflinger, and Clydesdales. These are not cheap horses either. One can go for as much as $30,000, but once the collection is made, Costa Rica will be able to breed from the best of the best.
Once all of the horses are purchased in the United States, they must go through over 28 days of quarantine to get tested for diseases. Then they will be shipped via a Boeing 747 to Costa Rica; a true Noah’s Arc experience.
