Costa Rican Federico Pilurzu, a native of Playa Langosta, Guanacaste, recently upped his ranking to 95th in the World Qualification Series (WQS), thanks to his performance in two recent tournaments that took place in Brazil and the United States.

The annual Boca Barranca Charity Surf Tournament will take place in Boca Barranca, Puntarenas this October 27 and 28 to benefit the young inhabitants of the Hogar Monserrat home for orphans. All proceeds from the event, as well as autographs from the participating surfers, will be donated to the orphanage.

The International Soccer History and Statistics Federation released its updated world club ratings yesterday and Puntarenas still stands as the best Costa Rica soccer team. Even though it fell from 106th to 139th it still remains in the top 150 worldwide.
